I’m knee-deep in writing the Valentine’s Day catalog and I need some musical inspiration to keep the creative juices flowing. I want to download some songs that are toe-tapping, lyrical, fun, and, of course, all about love. Songs that are dance-able. Songs that are sing-along-able. Songs that inspire me to inspire others to purchase gourmet cookies and brownies.
Come on, I know you’re thinking of a song right now. Won’t you please recommend it to me?
why, I have a playlist just for this occasion:
At Last, Etta James (likely be my wedding theme song)
Forever, Ben Harper
The Luckiest, Ben Folds (stole this from Emily)
I Will Follow You Into the Dark, Death Cab for Cutie (so what if it is about death – it melts my heart!)
By Your Side, Sade
Somebody, Depeche Mode
Faithfully, Journey (you have to have *some* Journey in your life)
Think I’m in Love, Beck
Better Together, Jack Johnson
You Are The Sunshine of My Life, Stevie Wonder
A Love Song, Loggins & Messina (didn’t you recommend this one to me?)
Endless Love, Diana Ross & Lionel Richie
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Roberta Flack (don’t mock, it’s good!)
Your Song, Elton John
Turn Me On, Norah Jones
Gimme Some Luvin, G Love

Aint’ No Mountain High Enough, Marvin Gaye

The First Time Ever I saw Your Face by Roberta Flack is about the most beautiful love song I’ve ever heard. It makes me want to be madly in love every time I hear it. I also love Come What May from Moulin Rouge and Tupalo Honey by Van Morrison.

Kiss Me in the Rain – Barbra Streisand

It looks like you already have more than enough suggestions…but, a few years ago (or maybe 15), Phil Collins did one called Groovy Kind of Love, and I love it. The lyrics are great. Here’s a link to them, if you’re interested: http://www.lyrics007.com/Phil%20Collins%20Lyrics/Groovy%20Kind%20Of%20Love%20Lyrics.html
Hi Tiffany!
I would suggest Meiko or Lenka. Some of my favorites include:
Meiko- Reason to Love You and How Lucky We Are
Lenka-Don’t Let Me Fall, The Show, and Live Like You’re Dying.
Both artists are “toe-tapping and sing-along-able”.
Good luck with your Valentines catalog!
Through the Darkness – Tiger Army
You’re My Home – Billy Joel
Save Room – John Legend
– Jack Johnson
Amazing – Josh Kelley
Lets Stay Together – Al Green
Banana Pancakes
hmm…toe tapping…
Lifehouse – First Time
“Looking at you, holding my breath
For once in my life I’m scared to death
I’m taking a chance letting you inside ”
although, I prefer a different Lifehouse song, but it’s not a toe tapper:
Lifehouse – Everything
“You calm the storms, and you give me rest.
You hold me in your hands, you won’t let me fall.
You steal my heart, and you take my breath away.
Would you take me in? Take me deeper now?”
Mindi – I love your Foo Fighters pick…I totally agree…”breathe out so I can breathe you in”
Big Head Todd – Bittersweet
“A little light looks through, her bedroom window.
She dances and I dream, she’s not so far as she seems,
Of brighter meadows, melting sunsets,
Her hair blowing in the breeze.
And she can’t see me watching.
I’m thinking, looooove… looooove…looooove… looooove…”
Dido – Sand in my Shoes
“I’ve still got sand in my shoes
And I can’t shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would’ve been confused but I wanna see you again”
I have many more.
Keith
