My mom brought this blast-from-the-past photo last night and gave it to me only if I promised not to put it on my blog. I feel justified because she (shown in the middle; that’s me on the left and my sister Leslie on the right) looks quite sassy and stylish, compared to me.
Let me point out a few things, if I may:
1. I like how the three of us are color-coordinating. I’m sure this is how Destiny’s Child got the idea for their costumes.
2. Notice my artificially straight hair and my sister’s artificially curly hair.
3. My sister used to use a knitting needle to lift her hair, then spray it with hairspray to achieve proper heightage and fluffage. I thought it was genius.
4. I am sporting a T-shirt and matching earrings designed by our neighbor Jane.
5. I believe we are sitting at our church. You can tell by the painted brick wall and faux-gold frame on the picture in the background.
6. I like my sister’s outfit more than mine.
7. I often borrowed my sister’s clothes.
8. Without asking.
9. I have very kind, forgiving sisters.
10. If you look closely, you can see that my eye-teeth (I-teeth? Aye-teeth? I don’t know) are still my baby teeth. In about a year from this photo, our dentist will convince me that he needs to pull these teeth, and that my permanent teeth will fill right in. I walked around toothless for more than a year, which was totally not a big deal AT ALL because I was only a teenage girl.
11. My dentist mysteriously disappeared in 1993 shortly after I got my drivers license.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! I couldn’t love you more!

That picture is amazing! The hair is awesome and your mom has aged very well. If her hair was the same as it is now I would have thought this was a recent photo.
wow, that is just wow. This picture makes me realize how much Christian looks like you! And how much you and your sister look alike. And how terrible the 80s to 90s cross over period was for fashion.
(as a side note, tell Christian that I’m hoping the reason I did not get a call after yesterday’s game is he could no longer talk from all the yelling! Tell him I really enjoyed our post-game chat on Friday – GO JAZZ!).
Great picture, love the matching shirt and earings.
I knew I could come to your blog for a smile on this blah Monday morning. Thanks for the laugh, it brightened my day!
I too have very forgiving sisters and we borrowed clothes all the time without asking! My mom was a great referree!
I think I had those same outfits. Man, I miss the 80’s.
This photos gave me a big smile today. It’s fun to see any photo as a blast from the past, but especially of my dear friend Leslie and her family! How fun, I’m glad you posted against your mother’s wishes!
oh, what fun! And you all three have your hands folded so demurely. Such ladies!
Oh.my. And you hate me, why??? Ugh! Why didn’t anyone ever tell me how BIG my head looked.
Does Ryan have any appointments available tonight?? I think it will take a few sessions to work through this shock.
words. cannot. express. my love for that photo.
and the knitting needle? the greatest thing i’ve heard all day….
i was pleased as punch to read that i had good taste today!! target is home to all things good.
let’s call each other and coordinate the next time we wear our shirt!
What the …? OK, I did get something out of this blog. I had forgotten about Jane’s little business of silk screening and matching earrings. I’ll have to get her email address and forward this to her. The thing I dislike about this picture is that I look like a puppet, folded in the middle. What’s with that? And was I wearing Dad’s shirt? Really, Tiff, I thought we had an understanding.
You were smokin’ white hot back in the day. That is a classic.
P.S. I love the matching earrings!!
