A handful of random recent photos

Have you ever been here? It’s the largest man-made hole on earth.
Bingham Canyon Copper Mine
It’s the Bingham Canyon Copper Mine and although I’ve lived within minutes of it for most of my life, I never visited until last month when James and DeDe were in town. It’s pretty cool for a man-made hole.

Here’s Christian and James by one of the giant tires used on the trucks that work in the mine. Out where I live, most of the trucks are jacked up with giant tires, so this is only impressive if you are an out-of-towner.

Here’s Max climbing over the DO NOT CLIMB sign.

Here’s James and DeDe. When James was little, he used to go by J.D.. I’m glad he decided to use his full name because “J.D. and DeDe” sounds so……..consonanty.

And here’s me, Ryan, and my favorite shirt from Target. I have worn this shirt a lot. I’m wearing it right now, in fact. I don’t think Ryan cares for it. The other day (when wearing it again) he said, “So, is that your favorite shirt?” Yep, honey, it sure is.

Forget Snakes on a Plane, people are much more afraid of Kids on a Plane.

Our Max. Nuff said.
Max on the sand

If this lovely, whimsical snapshot came with audio, you would hear me yelling, “Come back here! You’re going to get wet and sandy and freeze to death!” No wonder we don’t make a lot of home movies.

Skipping now to Grandma’s funeral, here is a picture of my sister-in-law, Heidi, and my niece, Peyton. If Heidi wasn’t so busy being a saint, she could make a lot of money as a supermodel. Isn’t she beautiful?

Here’s Ryan in the car at the cemetery. Why is this an important photo to share? Dunno. He just looks good.

Here’s my favorite flower bed in our yard. I’m having the Summer Is Almost Over Blues. I stare at this flower bed a lot, hoping to ingrain it’s image in my brain to remember on a cold, January afternoon.

Here’s Christian on his first day of fourth grade. Wait a minute, what did I just say??? Holy crap, I have a fourth grader.

And here’s Max on the schoolbus on his first day of school. I tried to take his picture on the same rock as Christian, but he was too giddy for the bus ride and it didn’t turn out. I fined him $25.00 for non-compliance.

Have a great Labor Day weekend!

A few thoughts about this post:

I LOVE these pictures! I especially love the first day of school pictures…it brings back many memories.

Your yard always looks so beautiful.

I sneaked a peak at your flickr account and saw the baloon pictures from the funeral…so awesome!

I am also glad James doesn’t go by J.D.

    Happy Labor Day…

Obviously we should consider moving to Utah. Look at that flower bed, oy! The best I can do is some cala lilies in a vase. And all the beautiful people — um, is that just your family, or is all of Utah like that?

Try Dan and Annie…Dannie as some people call us, thinking it’s funny. (It’s not in case you couldn’t hear the tone of my voice!)

Do you have a professional landscaper??? Could you come do my yard next year? Thanks…in advance:)

Wonderful pictures. And yes, Catherine, we’re all beautiful. (If you ever do come to visit, call first.)

Thank you for all of those wonderful pictures! You are quite the photographer! You have a BEAUTIFUL family and an awesome yard! You should see my lawn — it’s blond!

So sorry, again, for your loss. She was quite a woman. What a blessing to have known her for so long!

    Love the shirt.
I had no idea Utah has the largest man-made hole. It is oddly beautiful.
And just having got off a plane with an excessive amount of children who were literally climbing over the seats and running up and down the aisle, yes, I am afraid of kids on a plane.
I’m jealous of your flowers . . . and impressed.

Hello! I was surfing the internet Monday afternoon during my break, and found your blog by searching MSN for landscaper. This is a topic I have great interest in, and follow it closely. I liked your insight on A handful of random recent photos, and it made for good reading. Keep up the good work…
